After we arrived in the sacred valley of the Inkas from Machu Picchu yesterday night, we stayed in a boutique hotel in the Spanish colonial villages Ollantaytambo overnight.
A lot of Travellers try to get to Machu Picchu on the Inca Trial, which takes four days and requires hiking on steep mountain paths at very high altitude carrying heavy backpacks with overnight gear. We didn’t.
We flew to Cusco via Lima on Saturday morning of May 19. The host of our AIRBNB Appartment had told us that he could pick us up from the airport, but when we arrived, nobody was there.
The purpose for traveling to Peru, Martin was invited to give a speech at the International Rice Congress for Latin America and the Pacific.
May 1, Holiday on Tuesday, so ideal for a long weekend, except to my upcoming trip to Myanmar, for which I will have to leave on May 1. But at least by taking Monday off it is a three day weekend, good enough for a sail and to do some house spotting.
