Fight the “Throw away culture”

Some governments move towards a better future, while others revive outdated technologies (e.g. coal..).

I like Sweden.

I repair things to reduce my environmental footprint. Last year I repaired myself:
– our Multimedia system’s CD player
– the two Apple MacBook airs of my daughters
– one MacBook Pro
– our Honda Dax
– the Rimowa suitcase
– my IPod classic, now Miriam’s.
– our inflatable Palawa Gumotech Kanoe
– my Black&decker Jigg saw
– my Bosch electric drill
– many small things

And I had repaired:
– three iPhones
– our Sony TV

Problem is, nowadays most products are designed to fail after a number of years. In all three MacBooks something else broke within 6 months after I repaired them. I ended up selling them “for tinkerers” on eBay and bought three new ones. They still outlasted any windows machine I had before, but basically this should be a big scandal. We have borrowed this planet from our children. Unnecessary waste of resources should be a crime.
