After 4 trips to Manila and countless email inquiries with frustrating outcomes because nobody had the right crimping tool, I sent the steel cable supporting the main cross beam of Magayon 2 for modification to SVB in Germany. It just arrived today. The last thing we need now is a lighter mast. Still looking for marine grade aluminum tubes with 127 mm diameter. So far the options are: import of a ready to use mast from Germany (US$3,500), import from China ( 20 tubes minimum order) or manufacturing by a company in the Philippines for 1,000 $ for 10 tubes (who needs a Tiki26 mast?). Plus 1,750 $ for making the tool. Looking into carbon fiber tubes was not very successful either. 2-3,000 $ for a single tube:-( Decisions to be made.
